
A brutal beating in the South Loop left two men seriously injured and a police officer struck, and a River Grove man is now facing a stack of felony charges, Chicago police say. Officers responding to the 1100 block of South Wabash Avenue found a 29-year-old man and a 67-year-old man badly hurt and rushed them to the hospital in serious condition. Authorities say the suspect resisted arrest and hit an officer before he was finally taken into custody.
Police: Two Men Beaten On South Wabash
According to the Chicago Police Department, as reported by FOX 32 Chicago, officers arrested 27-year-old Darion Turley on Friday and booked him on multiple felony counts. Turley is charged with two counts of aggravated battery with the use of a deadly weapon, two counts of aggravated battery in a public place, and one count of aggravated battery of a police officer, police said.
Felony Counts And Court Appearance
Police say Turley is set to appear in court Sunday to answer to the allegations. All of the listed charges are felonies that could carry significant prison time if he is convicted. Prosecutors are expected to formally file the case and make their bail recommendation as the matter starts moving through the court system.
Busy South Loop Block On Edge
The incident unfolded in the 1100 block of South Wabash Avenue, a busy South Loop corridor lined with businesses and close to transit. Investigators say they are reviewing surveillance video from the area and interviewing witnesses as they work to piece together how the confrontation started and escalated into violence.
