What police say
Officers were called to the area of W. El Camino Avenue and Gateway Oaks Drive on Tuesday for reports of a stabbing, the Sacramento Police Department told FOX40. When they arrived, they found the woman suffering from at least one stab wound and had her transported to a hospital, where she was listed in critical condition.
Police said they were still working to pinpoint exactly where the attack happened while investigators combed the surrounding area for evidence and additional details about what led up to the stabbing.
Area history
The same stretch of South Natomas has seen serious violence before. In November 2024, a fatal stabbing on Gateway Oaks Drive led to a homicide arrest, as reported by CBS Sacramento, highlighting how sections of West El Camino have repeatedly grappled with violent crime.
Investigation
The Sacramento Police Department said there was no suspect information available as of Tuesday night and detectives remained in the area working to piece together what happened, according to FOX40. Officials have not said whether the stabbing appears to be a targeted attack or a random act, and no arrests have been announced as the investigation continues.
