
Police are investigating after gunfire turned a South St. Petersburg residential block into a crime scene Friday evening, leaving one person wounded and rushed to the hospital.
St. Petersburg police and emergency crews responded just after 6:30 p.m. to the 4200 block of 15th Avenue South, where they found a single gunshot victim. The person was treated at the scene, then taken to a local hospital. Detectives locked down the block while officers went door to door looking for witnesses and surveillance footage.
As reported by Tampa Free Press, emergency medical services transported the injured person to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital. The St. Petersburg Police Department told the outlet that the investigation is ongoing and that “additional information will be released once it becomes available.” No suspect information has been released and no arrests had been reported at the time of publication. Authorities have not disclosed the victim’s identity, age, gender, or medical condition.
Victim Was Taken To Bayfront
Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital, at 701 6th Street South in downtown St. Petersburg, is the facility named in reports as the receiving hospital. According to the hospital’s website, Bayfront serves as Pinellas County’s Level II trauma center and handles many of the region’s emergency cases.
