Clouds greeted Baltimore early Saturday, May 9, 2026, with temperatures stuck in the upper 50s and a light southwest breeze keeping the Inner Harbor on the gray side. Forecasters expect scattered showers to develop as the day goes on, with a shot at a few thunderstorms during the afternoon.
Afternoon Showers And Gusts
Scattered rain showers are most likely between about 9 a.m. and 2 p.m., with a better chance for showers and thunderstorms roughly 2–5 p.m. Highs should reach around 72°F, with southwest winds of 6–12 mph and gusts that could push up to 20 mph. Brief gusty winds or small hail are the main concerns, though overall instability looks limited, according to the National Weather Service.
Boaters And High Tides
A Small Craft Advisory is in effect for the Chesapeake and local tidal waters through 6 p.m., so smaller boats are better off staying at the dock, and any loose gear should be tied down. A Coastal Flood Advisory is posted for Annapolis around the morning high-tide window, roughly 9 a.m.–1 p.m. Low-lying spots such as Dock Street and the City Dock parking area could see some ponding at the high-tide peak. If you live or work along the shoreline, move vehicles off low-lying streets and build in a little extra travel time. We previously broke down these high-tide concerns.
Looking Ahead
Sunday, May 10, 2026, looks warmer and brighter, with more sun and highs near 81°F, although scattered afternoon thunderstorms remain on the table. Showers should become more widespread Sunday night into Monday, with steadier rain and cooler highs in the mid-60s on Monday, May 11, 2026. Forecasters are also flagging a chance of frost Monday night, well west of the Blue Ridge, so gardeners in the higher valleys should be ready to protect sensitive plants.
What To Know
Plan on slower commutes during any heavier showers, and ease off the gas on wet bridges and waterfront roads. Boaters should put off nonessential trips while the Small Craft Advisory is in effect, and shoreline residents should keep an eye out for ponding near low-lying streets around the morning high tide.
