
A 29-year-old man was killed after a fight near the Southwest Waterfront on Wednesday night, according to D.C. police. Members of the National Guard reported seeing a group of men fighting in the 400 block of I Street SW shortly before 9 p.m., and responding officers found the victim with an abdominal injury. DC Fire and EMS rushed him to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Police: National Guard spotted the altercation
In a press release, the Metropolitan Police Department said First District officers responded at about 8:52 p.m. after National Guard members reported the fight. Officers found an adult male suffering from an injury to his abdomen and, despite lifesaving efforts at the hospital, he did not survive. MPD identified the victim as 29-year-old Keon Jones of Southwest, D.C., and listed the case number as CCN 26057314.
No weapon details; investigation ongoing
Officials have not said whether a weapon was used and have released no suspect information, as reported by WJLA. Investigators are treating the incident as an active homicide case and have asked the public to come forward with any tips. Detectives have not announced any arrests or named any persons of interest.

According to the MPD release, anyone with information is urged to call (202) 727-9099 or text tips to 50411. The department is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information that leads to an arrest and conviction. Authorities are asking the public not to confront anyone themselves and instead to share what they know with investigators. People with information are asked to reference CCN 26057314 when contacting police.
