Showing up to a Las Vegas Aces game or big-name concert at Michelob ULTRA Arena with your favorite tote could now mean a walk of shame back to the car. The Strip venue that hosts the defending WNBA champs has rolled out a strict no-bag policy for all events, cutting off backpacks and larger purses at the gate.
Only very small personal bags are allowed inside. Diaper bags and medically necessary items can still get in, but they will be handled as exceptions, reviewed on a case-by-case basis and inspected before entry. The rules apply across the board: Aces games, concerts and all other bookings at the arena.
"No bags or backpacks will be permitted into the venue except for small personal bags (measuring 9" x 5" x 2" max). Bags do not need to be transparent," the arena's official fan page states. Straps are not part of the size limit. As outlined by Las Vegas Aces, fanny packs, crossbody bags and clear stadium bags are only allowed if they meet those same dimensions.
KTNV first reported the policy change and noted that artist tours, promoters and the building itself reserve the right to tweak the rules as needed. The station also reiterated that diaper bags and necessary medical items are exceptions, but all of those items will be inspected at the door.
Why Other Arenas Are Moving This Way
Michelob ULTRA Arena is not acting in a vacuum. In recent years, many large venues have tightened bag rules to speed up security lines and reduce risk, and Las Vegas is very much part of that trend.
The Sphere, for instance, has its own strict bag limitations and generally allows only very small clutches or makes medical and parenting exceptions, as noted by Sporting News. T-Mobile Arena has landed in a similar place with its carry-in rules, according to T-Mobile Arena's visitor guide.
The message is clear: if you are heading to a big arena, assume the giant tote bag stays home.
How To Prepare For Game Day
Before you leave for the Strip, grab a tape measure. The published size limit at Michelob ULTRA Arena is 9 inches by 5 inches by 2 inches, and the arena specifies that straps do not count toward that measurement. If your clutch or crossbody bag is even a little bigger, plan on pockets or a different bag.
The arena's fan page also recommends downloading mobile tickets in advance and prepaying for parking to help keep entry lines moving. And because tours can layer on their own rules, fans are urged to check event listings for any extra restrictions ahead of time, per Las Vegas Aces.
If you know you will need an exception for medical equipment or a diaper bag, your best move is to contact guest services before your visit or arrive early so security has time to inspect items without slowing everyone down. For last-minute questions tied to a specific concert, game or show, check the event's ticketing page or call the arena's guest services line, KTNV advised.
