Lauryn Hill and Wyclef Jean will bring the songs of the Fugees' landmark album The Score to the Las Vegas Strip on November 6, headlining a one-night-only celebration of the record's 30th anniversary at Resorts World Theatre. Tickets for the show go on sale Friday, August 28, at AXS.com.
Resorts World Las Vegas announced that Hill and Jean, both founding members of the Fugees, will perform the music of The Score at the venue, according to KSNV. The concert will honor the album's genre-defining legacy and enduring cultural impact, with the pair expected to run through staples like “Ready or Not” and “Killing Me Softly.” Hill and Wyclef Jean helped redefine hip-hop in the 1990s, and the show marks a rare chance to hear those songs performed live by two of the people who created them.
A Blockbuster Album Still Setting Records
The Score first hit shelves on February 13, 1996, debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 before going on to sell more than 22 million copies worldwide and reaching 7x Platinum status from the RIAA in February 2021, according to XXL Mag. At the 39th Annual Grammy Awards in February 1997, the album won Best Rap Album, making the Fugees the first rap group to take home that trophy, while “Killing Me Softly” won Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal. The album was also nominated for Album of the Year that same year, per the same outlet's reporting.
Individually, the album's singles have racked up their own accolades. “Killing Me Softly” was certified 3x Platinum by the RIAA in September 2022 and set European radio broadcast records after its 1996 release, while lead single “Fu-Gee-La” went Platinum and peaked at No. 29 on the Billboard Hot 100, according to HotNewHipHop. Hill's own solo legacy looms large too — her 1998 solo debut, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, won five Grammy Awards, was certified Diamond in February 2021, and was inducted into the Library of Congress National Recording Registry in 2014, as noted by The Current.
Why Pras Michel Isn't on the Bill
Notably absent from the Resorts World announcement is Fugees co-founder Pras Michel, the third member of the original trio. Michel was convicted in federal court in April 2023 on 10 counts of political conspiracy and money laundering tied to Malaysian financier Jho Low, and he faces up to 20 years in prison, according to the Los Angeles Times. He also filed a fraud lawsuit against Hill in federal court in October 2024, alleging mismanagement of a prior reunion tour, before dropping that suit in April 2026.
That legal friction follows a string of scuttled reunion plans. Full Fugees tours were canceled in both 2022 and August 2024, with industry reports and federal filings citing Justice Department travel restrictions on Michel in 2022 and internal disputes over finances and scheduling in 2024, according to Forbes. The scrapped 2024 outing had been billed as “The Miseducation Anniversary Tour,” with the Fugees slated as co-headliners.
Part of a Bigger 2026 Reunion Run
The Las Vegas date isn't Hill and Jean's only stop on the anniversary circuit this year. The two reunited on stage at Global Citizen Live in Rio de Janeiro in June and are scheduled to headline the Global Citizen Festival in New York's Central Park on September 26 to mark 30 years of The Score, according to Hypebeast. Hoodline previously reported on the pair's Central Park reunion set, and those festival appearances mark the duo's first joint headlining sets ahead of the Strip show.
Inside the Venue's High-Tech Stage
Resorts World Theatre, which opened in December 2021, features the Las Vegas Strip's largest and tallest stage at 13,550 square feet along with L-Acoustics spatial audio technology inside the $125 million venue designed by Montreal firm Scéno Plus. The theater underwent renovations in summer 2025 that introduced a flexible general-admission lower orchestra floor, adjusting its fully seated capacity to 4,561 and combined capacity to 4,869, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. The room previously ran fixed seating throughout before general-admission capability was added in September 2025.
Since opening, the theater has hosted major residencies from artists including Luke Bryan, Katy Perry, and Carrie Underwood, and it was named the highest-grossing venue in the world under 5,000 capacity on Billboard's Annual Top Grossing Venues list for two consecutive years in 2022 and 2023, per AEG Presents. The venue has also drawn a steady stream of high-profile bookings this year, including Hoodline's Danny Elfman Burton-themed show announced earlier in 2026. For fans hoping to hear The Score performed live by its original co-creators, one-off dates like this November's remain the primary way to do so, given the group's history of canceled full reunion tours.
