Malden officers tried to pull the vehicle over a second time at Main Street and Bickford Road after an alert from other agencies, but the driver stomped the gas, hitting an unmarked State Police cruiser and nearly striking a uniformed Malden officer who had stepped out of his vehicle, as reported by Boston.com. State police said the trooper inside the cruiser escaped without serious injury.

The car was later found abandoned on Lindenwood Road in Stoneham, and Stoneham police joined Massachusetts State Police at the scene, Chief James O'Connor said in a statement, per Patch. Officers searched a nearby cemetery and surrounding woods with K‑9 units while investigators processed the vehicle for evidence, but both the driver and passenger had taken off on foot before officers arrived.
Suspect Had Warrants And Cut Monitoring Bracelet
According to Readers.id, the driver had multiple outstanding arrest warrants out of Everett and had recently severed an electronic monitoring ankle bracelet before officers approached. Authorities said the vehicle was tied to an ongoing narcotics investigation in Everett, and that part of the probe remains active as departments coordinate follow‑up work.
Cops Say No Ongoing Threat, Ask Neighbors For Tips
Malden police posted on social media that there is "no information to suggest an ongoing threat to public safety" and urged anyone with information to contact investigators, per Boston.com. Officers from Everett, Malden and Stoneham are comparing notes, reviewing video and tracking down witness accounts from the multi‑town pursuit.
