A residential stretch of southeast Houston turned into a crime scene Thursday after a shooting that left at least one person dead, according to authorities. Houston police blocked off the street, keeping bystanders back while investigators combed the area for evidence.
The deadly gunfire was reported at 8799 Sunny Terrace Lane, off Blackhawk Ridge near Monroe Road, according to Click2Houston. Sky 2 aerial footage from the station showed crime-scene tape wrapped around the block, multiple police units on scene, and a body lying in the street. The station reported that details were limited as officers worked the case.
The Houston Police Department had not released an official incident statement as of that report. Anyone with information is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers of Houston at 713-222-TIPS.
Neighborhood context
The Sunny Terrace block sits inside a compact residential pocket near Monroe Road and the Sam Houston Beltway, a stretch that mixes quiet cul-de-sacs with steady commuter traffic. The broader southeast Houston area has seen several violent incidents in recent months, including a triple shooting in March, according to ABC13, fueling ongoing concerns about public safety in the area.
Investigation ongoing
Police have not released the victim's identity or any description of possible suspects, and it was not immediately clear whether any arrests had been made. The scene remained sealed off as detectives documented the area and collected evidence. Click2Houston reported that it will update its coverage as new information becomes available.
