Mayor's Minute Puts New Venue On The Map
The one-minute video, posted May 5, 2026, highlights Playground's blend of mini golf, arcade play, craft food and cocktails, and even teases a possible hidden speakeasy, according to City of Huntington Beach - Government. The clip frames Playground as a family-friendly daytime stop that shifts into a livelier adults-only scene later at night.
Inside The Playground Experience
According to Playground Mini Golf, the spot features a nine-hole indoor course, more than 20 arcade games, and a full kitchen and bar serving seasonal cocktails and comfort-food shareables. Kids are welcome most hours, with adult-only play starting after 9 p.m. The venue also promotes private event packages and a tap-to-play arcade system aimed at parties and corporate groups.
Series Aims To Boost Local Businesses
McKeon rolled out the "Minute with the Mayor" series earlier this year to give local entrepreneurs some extra visibility, and the effort has already attracted dozens of applicants, according to the Los Angeles Times. City officials have described the videos as part of a larger push to promote Huntington Beach's walkable downtown and to streamline support for small businesses.
Opening Dates And Private Event Perks
Playground's announcement page lists a soft opening on August 15 and a public grand opening on August 22, along with details on "Birdie's Back Room," a private space with a golf simulator and its own bar for events, per Playground Mini Golf. The owners say the venue can host everything from kids' birthday parties to full buyouts for more than 200 guests.
