West San Jose is getting another buzzy salad spot on Tuesday, as Sweetgreen opens its Saratoga + Campbell outpost at El Paseo de Saratoga. The chain is bringing its made-from-scratch bowls along with a new set of protein-packed wraps, and it is kicking things off with preview meals, in-store giveaways, and an opening-day donation effort with a local food charity. The move drops yet another national fast-casual name into a neighborhood already deep into a retail and housing makeover.
Sweetgreen’s store page lists the Saratoga + Campbell location at 1200 El Paseo de Saratoga, Suite 30, with daily hours running from 10 AM to 10 PM, according to Sweetgreen. The listing currently tags the spot as “Coming soon” and includes a phone number for the restaurant.
Menu, size and opening perks
As reported by WhatNow, the Saratoga + Campbell restaurant will be about 2,406 square feet and will serve Sweetgreen favorites like the Harvest Bowl, Crispy Rice Bowl, Caramelized Garlic Steak, and Miso Glazed Salmon. It will also debut a limited-time Chicken Sesame Crunch and a trio of wraps (Chicken Caesar, Jalapeño Ranch, Bacon Club). The outlet notes that the location will spotlight produce sourced from California farms and includes a statement from Sweetgreen COO Jason Cochran: "We're excited to become part of the neighborhood and look forward to serving West San Jose with genuine hospitality every day." WhatNow also reports that the grand opening starts at 10 a.m. on Tuesday and that the first 75 in-store customers between 10 and 11 a.m. will receive a complimentary entrée worth up to $20 while supplies last.
Preview events and charity tie-in
Before the official launch, Sweetgreen is taking RSVPs for “soft opening” preview time slots with complimentary meals this Friday and Saturday, as listed on Eventbrite. The Eventbrite page also notes that for every meal sold on opening day, Sweetgreen will donate a meal to Hunger at Home. The Santa Clara County nonprofit describes itself as a food-rescue and meal-distribution organization focused on building food security across Silicon Valley, according to Hunger at Home.
Where it fits
The El Paseo de Saratoga site sits in the middle of a larger redevelopment that is adding new housing and retail, and vertical construction had begun in March, Hoodline reported. As that build-out continues, the arrival of a national chain like Sweetgreen could nudge the local retail mix and give nearby residents one more grab-and-go option as the neighborhood’s makeover pushes ahead.
