A 19-year-old Chicago man is facing a stack of felony charges after police say he robbed two men at gunpoint and helped pull off a business theft in Little Village, tying together a string of incidents that hit the West Side between February and April.
Authorities identified the suspect as 19-year-old Treshon Redmond and say officers arrested him Tuesday on Hamlin Avenue in the North Lawndale neighborhood, according to FOX 32 Chicago. Redmond is charged with two counts of armed robbery with a firearm and one count of theft involving more than $500 but less than $10,000, the outlet reports.
Robberies And Little Village Theft
Chicago police allege Redmond first stuck up a 52-year-old man at gunpoint on Feb. 14 in the 1500 block of South Sawyer Avenue. On March 5, a 53-year-old man was robbed in a similar way on the same block, according to investigators.
Detectives also linked Redmond to a reported theft at a Little Village business on April 29 in the 4100 block of West 26th Street. Authorities have not released the names of the victims, and they say the investigation remains active.
What's Next
Redmond is due back in court Thursday for a detention hearing as prosecutors review the case and the Cook County State's Attorney's Office considers formal charges. The hearing could determine whether he is held in jail without bond while the case moves forward.
Police say detectives are still running down leads and are asking anyone with information to contact Area detectives or submit tips online.
