An 18-year-old was slashed in the neck in Midtown Manhattan in the early hours of Thursday, left hospitalized at Bellevue and triggering a police search just steps from Rockefeller Center and Radio City Music Hall. The assault sent late-night foot traffic scattering along the Avenue of the Americas near West 51st Street as the attacker bolted. Police say the assailant took off on foot and was still on the loose several hours after the attack.
The NYPD said the assault happened at about 1:55 a.m. and that the victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition, according to the New York Post. Detectives began canvassing the area for surveillance video and witnesses as they opened an investigation into the slashing.

The attack unfolded in front of a 48-story office tower on the Avenue of the Americas near West 51st Street, the block that fronts Rockefeller Center and sits across from Radio City Music Hall. The 48-story Time & Life building at 1271 Avenue of the Americas sits between West 50th and West 51st Streets, per Commercial Observer, and Radio City Music Hall is next door at Radio City Music Hall.
Police Response
Officers described the attacker as a male who ran from the scene and had not been arrested several hours later, with a motive not immediately known, according to the New York Post. Investigators said they were pulling footage from nearby cameras and urging anyone with cellphone video or information to contact detectives.
