Mama Canela, a new Tex-Mex kitchen from local restaurateurs Paloma and Javier Ramos, is slated to light up Glendora Village this summer. The restaurant is taking over the 147 N. Glendora Ave storefront and is planning a grand opening on July 31 that will feature live mariachi. Owners say the menu will lean into fajitas, house-made flour tortillas and craft cocktails, with the space shifting from a family-friendly spot in the early evening to a low-key date-night cocktail bar as the night goes on.
Owners And The Opening Plan
In an interview with What Now Los Angeles, co-owner Paloma Ramos said she and her husband moved to Glendora and noticed a gap for what she called a "family-friendly date-night" option. The goal, she said, is to build a place that "feels like home." According to the outlet, the grand opening is set for July 31 and will feature a performance by Mariachi Los Camperos as part of the celebration.
Menu And Location
Mama Canela lists the restaurant at 147 N. Glendora Ave and shares hours along with grand-opening updates for the Glendora Village spot. The site highlights "flavors from Texas," with menu touches that include fajitas, specialty drinks and handmade flour tortillas, and invites locals to sign up for soft-opening access and early looks at the menu.
Permits And Approvals
The restaurant’s route through City Hall is on the books. A public hearing notice from the City of Glendora details a Conditional Use Permit request to allow on-site alcohol sales at 147 N. Glendora Ave. The Glendora Planning Commission later signed off on the permit, recorded as PLN24-0047, according to the Glendora Planning Commission packet, which notes the application as approved.
What It Means For Glendora Village
The incoming Tex-Mex spot is poised to plug a hole in the village’s evening lineup, promising sizzling fajitas and cocktails in a corridor that leans heavily on daytime traffic. Mama Canela is already listed as "coming soon" at 147 N. Glendora Ave on the Glendora Village directory, with the Glendora Village BID dining guide slotting it among downtown restaurants that serve both families and night-time diners.
Ramos told What Now Los Angeles that the Glendora restaurant is "our baby" and that the team has "big goals" to grow across Southern California, with Glendora set as the brand’s launchpad. For updates and soft-opening invitations, the owners are steering locals to sign up through the restaurant’s website at Mama Canela.
