One of Tiburon’s splashiest waterfront dining rooms is changing hands. Chef Michael Mina’s restaurant group is stepping away from the Bungalow Kitchen in Tiburon, handing management of the high-profile spot to Arizona-based Clive Collective effective June 1. The restaurant will keep the Bungalow Kitchen name, and both groups insist service will roll right along through the handoff.
The Mina Group, speaking through a publicist, said it is “incredibly proud of what the team built there over the past four years.” Clive Collective confirmed it will assume operations and is offering current front- and back-of-house employees the chance to stay on. Diners are not expected to see immediate changes, and both groups say they will roll out programming and menu updates in the weeks ahead as they work through the transition, as reported by Eater SF.
What's changing and when
This is a management transfer rather than a full-blown rebrand. As of June 1, the Mina Group will no longer manage the Tiburon location, and Clive Collective will take over day-to-day operations. “We are not coming in to reinvent the place,” Clive co‑founder Justin Massei said, adding that the group’s first priority is to listen and protect what makes the restaurant special, per Eater SF.
Who is Clive Collective?
Clive Collective is a Scottsdale-based hospitality company behind concepts such as Cala, The Americano and speakeasy-style bar Tell Your Friends. Founded in 2020, the group has been on a rapid expansion track across the Phoenix metro area, and Tiburon marks its first move beyond Arizona, according to Phoenix New Times.
Local context and what to expect
Since opening in November 2021, the Bungalow Kitchen has been treated as a downtown Tiburon anchor by town leaders, and property owner A&C Ventures has credited the restaurant with helping to revitalize Main Street. The shift to Clive Collective is being cast as a continuity move that keeps the high-traffic waterfront dining room humming while opening the door to fresh programming later this year, as noted in a council resolution from the Town of Tiburon.
