Tigard police say a 54-year-old man has been arrested and indicted on 14 counts alleging years of sexual abuse of a child, crimes investigators have described as "horrific." Authorities identified the suspect as Sithideth Boualywath and say the alleged abuse lasted more than three years. He was taken into custody while officers prepared to serve a warrant and remains jailed ahead of a preventive detention hearing set for next Wednesday (May 20).
What investigators allege
According to KGW, citing the Tigard Police Department, detectives concluded the minor was sexually abused for more than three years. A Washington County grand jury returned a 14-count indictment that, the outlet reports, includes two counts of first-degree sodomy, eight counts of first-degree sex abuse, one count of first-degree rape, two counts of second-degree unlawful sexual penetration, and one count of using a child in a display of sexually explicit conduct. KGW reports that a judge signed a search warrant for Boualywath’s home on April 27, and officers stopped and arrested him on April 28 while they were preparing to serve that warrant.

The indictment and arrest are allegations, and Boualywath has not been convicted and is presumed innocent under the law.
