The victim’s identity is being withheld until next of kin can be notified. Violent disputes spilling out of nightlife spots into nearby parking lots are a recurring problem in Uptown, and in the worst cases, they turn deadly. Past incidents have highlighted how vulnerable the area can be when crowds pour out of bars and clubs, and arguments follow people into the street. Reporting by The Dallas Morning News documented a fatal 2020 shooting near McKinney Avenue that began as a disturbance outside a club and escalated into gunfire.
How To Help Investigators
Police are urging anyone who saw the disturbance, or who might have cellphone video or dash cam footage from around the time of the shooting, to contact Dallas Police Homicide detectives or the department’s tip line. FOX 4 reported that detectives are also asking businesses in the area to pull surveillance footage that could help them identify the shooter.
