Corey Harris, the owner and chef behind Corey B. Cookin' Seafood & More in northeast Oklahoma City, says he woke up Thursday to a nightmare: his restaurant vandalized and his phone filled with threats on his life. The attack left visible damage on the storefront, and Harris has been sharing photos and details with neighbors as he tries to piece together what happened.
According to News 9, Harris says security footage captured a man damaging the business near NE 23rd and Bryant. He also told the station he has screenshots of repeated Facebook calls in which someone threatened his life. Harris said he is choosing grace over anger, telling the person responsible, "I forgive you, but you need to get right with God." He also said an unnamed woman walked in and handed him $125 to help pay for repairs.
Corey B. Cookin' a neighborhood fixture
Harris is no stranger to community work. Last fall, KOCO 5 highlighted his efforts to distribute food boxes to families as SNAP benefits faced uncertainty. His restaurant has become a familiar spot along NE 23rd Street in northeast OKC and is listed on major delivery platforms such as DoorDash, underscoring its role as a neighborhood staple.
Owner's message and local reaction
Speaking to News 9, Harris repeated that he forgives whoever is behind the threats and vandalism, but urged them to "get right with God." He said small cash donations and encouraging messages from customers have helped him handle immediate expenses and emotional fallout. The station reported that, so far, there have been no arrests or charges tied to the incident.
For now, Harris says the support from regulars and neighbors has been a lifeline as he tallies up repair costs and continues documenting the threats. He is asking anyone who might have surveillance footage or information about the vandalism to share it with local investigators while he focuses on getting his storefront back in shape.
