Police in West Homestead are looking for the driver of a car that struck a dog near Sarah Street and West 10th Avenue, then took off after a brief stop. The dog was rushed to an emergency veterinary clinic but did not survive, turning a quiet neighborhood corner into the focus of a hit-and-run investigation.
According to WTAE, the West Homestead Police Department said in a Monday post that a silver Toyota hit the dog. Sabel Kennel transported the animal to a veterinary emergency room, where it later died. Police described the driver as a man who stopped briefly after the collision before leaving the scene, and they are asking anyone with footage or information to contact the department.
Police Want Residents To Check Cameras
Hoodline earlier reported that a woman was critically injured after being struck in West Homestead on New Year’s Day, an incident detailed in its story critically injured on New Year’s Day. That coverage has helped push police to again canvass the neighborhood for video and witness accounts as investigators work to piece together what happened in this latest hit-and-run.
Anyone with home-security footage or information about the vehicle is urged to contact the West Homestead Police Department, officials said. WTAE reports that investigators are reviewing available video and witness statements as they try to identify the driver.
