Naya Comida + Barrita, a new concept from Agave Azul owner Juan Rios, is slated to open this summer inside Maitland’s Trelago Market. The small-format spot is centered on wood-fire cooking, nixtamal-made tortillas, and an agave-forward cocktail program. The operation will pair a full kitchen with a compact barrita counter for drinks and snacks, and the team says it will use organic masa imported from Mexico for its tortillas. The restaurant is positioned as a contemporary, Pacific coast-inspired Mexican concept aimed squarely at the Maitland dining scene.
Menu and drinks
As detailed by Orlando Weekly, the menu will be built around three elements that date to pre-Hispanic times: wood fire, nixtamal, and mezcal. It will draw inspiration from the Pacific coast of Riviera Nayarit and lean hard into handcrafted tortillas. The Weekly also notes a cocktail list that tilts toward mezcal and tequila, signaling a bar-forward approach for the tight footprint.
Where and when
Local reporting says Naya will take a space in Trelago Market at 701 Vista Trelago, and that the restaurant’s Instagram is advertising a “Summer 2026” opening window, per WhatNow. That outlet also reports it reached out to Juan Rios for comment and that he was not immediately available.
Trelago Market context
A commercial listing for the center shows the retail address as 701 Trelago Way and includes Naya Comida Barrita among the center’s tenants, according to CommercialCafe. Developer marketing materials describe Trelago as a grocery-anchored, mixed-use project designed to bring more restaurants and services to the Maitland Boulevard corridor, per those materials.
Who’s behind Naya
Juan Rios is best known locally for Agave Azul Cocina Mexicana, a family-run chain that has expanded around Central Florida. Reporting and local filings have previously documented Rios’ ownership and expansion plans, as noted by WFTV and other regional coverage. Industry and local outlets have framed Naya as a sister project to Agave Azul that leans into live-fire cooking and an agave-centric drinks program.
