An early morning blaze ripped through a two-story house on the 100 block of Major Street in Aliquippa on Monday, leaving the upper floor heavily burned and shaking nearby residents out of bed. Crews stayed on scene through the dark early hours to beat back the flames and secure the property.
Firefighters were dispatched around 3:30 a.m., and the fire caused the most severe damage to the home’s top level, while neighboring houses sustained only minor damage, according to WPXI. Multiple units responded and focused their efforts on preventing the fire from jumping to adjacent homes.
Fire Marshal Called In
The Pennsylvania State Police operates a specialized Fire Marshal unit that steps in on major structure fires to pinpoint origin and cause, provide technical support, and handle evidence collection, according to the Pennsylvania State Police. That work can include combing through debris on site and coordinating with local fire departments to reconstruct how and where a blaze started.

Aliquippa has not been a stranger to serious fires in recent years. A December 2025 blaze destroyed Cesina's Sausage Company, and an early morning 2025 RV fire claimed two lives, as reported by WTAE. Both incidents underscored how quickly fire can rip through homes and businesses in the borough.
