A late-night house fire in Aurora on Sunday turned deadly, leaving one person dead and sending neighbors out into the street as crews battled heavy flames and thick smoke. Firefighters found an adult inside the home on E. Bates Circle and were unable to revive them, according to Aurora Fire Rescue. According to Denver7, the fire was reported around 9:51 p.m. after multiple 911 callers said someone was trapped inside a home just west of Interstate 225. When the first crews arrived, they were met with intense heat and heavy smoke as they worked to knock down the flames before locating the adult, who was later pronounced dead.
Aurora Fire Rescue posted on X that firefighters rescued a dog from the home and transported it to an animal hospital, reiterating that investigators are still working to determine what sparked the blaze. Officials have not released the identity of the person who died while the inquiry continues.
