A deadly early morning crash at one of Aurora's trouble spots left a passenger dead and sent two drivers to the hospital, and police say they are looking at alcohol as a possible factor.
Officers were called to the intersection of South Peoria Street and East Jewell Avenue at about 3 a.m. yesterday, according to Sentinel Colorado. "An adult male passenger of the Hyundai SUV sustained critical injuries in the crash and was rushed to a local hospital, where he later died," Aurora Police spokesperson Joe Moylan told the outlet.
Preliminary investigation
Investigators say a Hyundai SUV was turning south from westbound Jewell Avenue when it collided with a Nissan Xterra that was headed south through the intersection, Sentinel Colorado reported. Both drivers were taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life threatening, and police said they are examining whether alcohol played a role in the crash.
