Baltimore woke up Wednesday to the kind of morning that makes you forget it is late June: mostly clear skies, mild air around 68°F, and humidity that actually feels manageable. Expect a sunny, breezy day ahead with a high near 84°F under northwest winds, a welcome break from the heavier summer stickiness. Tonight should stay mostly clear, with temperatures slipping into the low 60s.
Afternoon And Tonight
Sunshine should hang on through the afternoon as northwest breezes around 7 to 10 mph keep things comfortable for outdoor plans and the evening commute. Out on the water, a Small Craft Advisory is in effect for many bay and near-shore waters through 11 a.m., so smaller boats are urged to take it easy early in the day. Those timing and advisory details come from the NWS Baltimore/Washington.
Weekend Watch
By Thursday, high pressure slips offshore, and southerly return flow starts cranking up the heat. Highs push into the upper 80s Thursday, around 88°F, and near 90°F Friday as humidity makes a noticeable comeback. A cold front is expected to move in late in the week, bringing a chance of showers and thunderstorms from Friday into Saturday. Timing is still fuzzy, but some of those storms could pack a punch.
That means waterfront festivities, including the Tall Ships in town and the Blue Angels overhead from June 24 to 30, with performances planned June 27 and 28, could face some weather-related hiccups if storms roll through, according to local event listings on Tall Ships and Blue Angels shows.
Plan Ahead
Plan on sunscreen and plenty of water for the warm afternoons, and make sure you have a backup option if your big plans land on Friday or Saturday. If you are heading to Inner Harbor events or planning time on the water this weekend, check for the latest updates before you head out, since brief, heavy downpours or thunderstorm-related delays are possible as the front arrives.
We will update this space if any watches or warnings are issued. Until then, enjoy the pleasant Wednesday and be ready to dust off the umbrella as the week wraps up.
