State law and potential charges
Oklahoma's Peeping Tom law (Title 21 § 1171) makes it a crime to secretly watch someone who reasonably expects privacy, including inside a home, or to use photographic or electronic devices to do so, according to Oklahoma statutes. If investigators determine that any recording equipment was used or that there was lewd intent, prosecutors could seek more serious charges under this statute.
What neighbors should do
Anyone who sees suspicious activity in progress is urged to call 911 right away. If the situation is not an emergency, residents are encouraged to save any relevant photos or video from doorbell or security cameras and share that material with Crime Stoppers as part of a tip.
The Oklahoma City Police Department's website notes that stored footage and quick reporting help detectives work cases like this and that such evidence can be passed along through the department's established tip lines.
