Morning traffic on San Antonio's far northwest side slowed under the weight of something far heavier than rush-hour frustration Friday: a body discovered in a construction zone near the I-10 and Loop 410 interchange, according to KENS5.
The body was found in a work area next to the busy interchange, and San Antonio police locked the scene down while investigators moved in. Detectives remained on site, documenting evidence and trying to figure out who the person is and how they ended up there. As of Friday, authorities had not announced any arrests or publicly released the victim's identity.
Construction Zone Makes Tough Scene Tougher
The stretch of highway where the discovery was made is already one of the city's more complicated spots. The I-10 and Loop 410 interchange has been under major TxDOT construction in recent years, with new flyovers and reworked ramps meant to keep up with fast-growing northwest-side traffic. Those long-running projects have brought nightly closures and shifting frontage-road patterns that can turn a normal drive into a maze, and they can also make it harder for first responders and investigators to move around the area, as documented by MySA.
Police Tight-Lipped As Investigation Deepens
In a statement to KENS5, the San Antonio Police Department said the scene remains under investigation and confirmed that detectives are focused on identifying the person found. Police have not said whether they suspect foul play and have asked anyone with information to contact investigators.
Drivers in the area can expect slowdowns and lane disruptions around the interchange while the investigation continues. Police said more details will be released as they become available.
