A stretch of grass off I-35 North in Schertz turned into the focus of a police investigation Tuesday afternoon after officers found a man’s body near the southbound service road. Police say they discovered the man just before 2 p.m. and have not yet released his identity while detectives work to figure out what happened.
According to News4SanAntonio, officers were called to the 25300 block of IH-35 North for a report of a deceased person along the southbound service road. The outlet reports the man was found lying in a grassy area offset from the roadway and that investigators said he "appears to be middle aged." Detectives are working to determine the man’s cause and manner of death, and the Schertz Police Department lists 210-619-1200 as the tip line.
How This Fits With Past I-35 Cases
The I-35 stretch through Schertz and the greater San Antonio area has seen other deaths and serious crashes that required similar detective work and public help. For example, in 2023 a woman’s body was found along an I-35 access road in Schertz, and police again called on motorists and nearby residents to share anything they might have seen to help piece together a timeline, as reported by KSAT.
What Investigators Are Asking The Public To Do
As the investigation continues, Schertz police have said there does not appear to be any threat to the community at large, according to News4SanAntonio. Anyone with information that might help detectives is urged to call the Schertz Police Department at 210-619-1200.
