Charge Filed After Weekslong Investigation
Court documents reviewed by ABC13 Houston identify the suspect as 22-year-old Daniel Ceron, who is charged with murder and is accused of beating Conway to death with his hands. According to the station, Ceron was arrested Wednesday and booked into the Harris County Jail, while prosecutors and Houston police have released few details about a possible motive or the nature of any relationship between him and Conway.
Family And Community Hold Vigil, Demand Answers
Family members, friends and local advocates gathered for a candlelight vigil at the Montrose Center, organizers told Click2Houston. Persia’s mother, Michelle P. Simmons, spoke publicly about her daughter and pressed officials for accountability, telling reporters, “Most importantly, Persia deserves justice; I want justice for my baby girl,” according to the Houston Chronicle.

National outlets and community groups have pointed to Conway’s death as part of a broader and deeply troubling pattern of violence against transgender people.
