A late-night drive through Brewerytown turned into a crime scene early Saturday when a 38-year-old woman was shot and hospitalized, police said. Officers arrived on the 2800 block of Poplar Street to find her inside a black Volkswagen with a gunshot wound to the back. Medics rushed her to a nearby hospital, where she was listed in stable condition.
Witnesses and responding officers reported seeing two men dressed in all black running south on 29th Street shortly after the gunfire. So far, that is the only description police have released.
According to 6abc Action News, Philadelphia police were called to the block just before 12:30 a.m. and found the victim inside the vehicle. The station reported that no arrests had been made at the time of its initial coverage.
