Early evening gunfire rattled a busy Mount Eden corner in late March, and now Bronx detectives want the public’s help tracking down four people they say were involved.
According to an alert from NYPD Crime Stoppers, four individuals allegedly fired shots near Jerome Avenue and West Mount Eden Avenue on March 26 at about 5:56 p.m. The bullets hit the front door of a commercial property at 1 West Mount Eden Avenue and smashed the window, tire and windshield of a parked, unoccupied sedan nearby. No occupants were reported in the car at the time.

Investigators have released images of people they are calling individuals of interest and are asking anyone who recognizes them to come forward, according to NYPD Crime Stoppers' Facebook post. Along with the photos, the notice reminds New Yorkers that tips can be shared anonymously.
The Crime Stoppers program lists its main hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS and a Spanish-language line at 1-888-57-PISTA. It also accepts online submissions through its Crime Stoppers portal.

The public notice labels the case as “WANTED FOR A CRIMINAL MISCHIEF” and states that four unidentified individuals discharged firearms in the vicinity of Jerome Avenue and West Mount Eden Avenue on March 26 at approximately 5:56 p.m. The alert specifies that the gunfire damaged the storefront at 1 West Mount Eden Avenue and struck the window, tire and windshield of a parked, unoccupied sedan.
Mount Eden Has Seen Several Recent Incidents
This latest Crime Stoppers alert lands in a stretch of busy days for officers in the 44th Precinct, which covers Mount Eden and surrounding neighborhoods, according to the NYPD 44th Precinct page. Recent neighborhood coverage has highlighted multiple violent incidents in the area, including an attempted knifepoint robbery in late March and a May 4 stabbing at the McDonald’s on West Mount Eden Avenue.
For Mount Eden residents, it all adds up to a tense few weeks, with local police leaning on public tips as they try to close open cases.

Anyone with information, photos or video related to the March 26 shooting damage is asked to contact Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or the Spanish hotline at 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). Tips can also be submitted anonymously through the Crime Stoppers portal or by messaging the NYPD’s tips account on X at @NYPDTips. The city’s Crime Stoppers program notes that eligible information may qualify for a reward.
