According to amNewYork, the shooting unfolded just before 6 p.m. on June 21 at 380 Fordham Road, when officers confronted a vehicle they say was reported stolen. Police told the outlet the driver hit an officer with the vehicle, and officers then opened fire. The driver was rushed in critical condition to St. Barnabas Hospital, while the injured officer was taken to another nearby hospital and is expected to survive.

Police set up a tight perimeter on Fordham Road between Marion and Decatur avenues and urged people to avoid the stretch while detectives investigated, as reported by amNewYork.
