
A 58-year-old man was stabbed three times in the back Sunday night after refusing to hand over his belongings to a group of five people near Webster Avenue and East 167th Street in the Bronx, according to police. The group allegedly surrounded him, demanded his property and attacked when he did not comply. He was taken to a hospital and is expected to recover.
According to News 12 New York, the confrontation happened just before 7:30 p.m. Sunday, and investigators are treating the case as an attempted robbery. Police said they are canvassing nearby businesses and reviewing any available surveillance footage as they search for leads.
Violence Along the East 167th Corridor
The stretch around Webster Avenue and East 167th Street has seen other knife incidents this spring, rattling neighbors and merchants. A February attack near Third Ave left another man with wounds to his face and neck, underscoring how quickly street disputes can turn violent on nearby blocks.
