Round Rock’s RM 620 corridor is trading curly fries for Crunchwraps. State project records show the shuttered Jack in the Box at 16330 N FM 620 is slated for a full remodel into a Taco Bell, with construction expected to run between Aug. 3 and Oct. 29, 2026. The existing single story building clocks in at roughly 2,887 square feet and is expected to reopen as a Taco Bell later in 2026 at an estimated remodel cost of about $800,000, according to state filings.
Community Impact first reported that the former Jack in the Box site is headed for a Taco Bell makeover. A project filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation lays out the same plan, including the roughly $800,000 remodel budget and the expectation of a late 2026 opening, and is the source of the specific cost and timeline details.
Project filing details
According to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, Project No. TABS2026021180 is titled "Taco Bell Brushy Creek" and lists a construction start date of Aug. 3, 2026 and a completion date of Oct. 29, 2026. The filing describes the work as a remodel of an existing building into a Taco Bell, gives the building size as 2,887 square feet and sets the estimated construction cost at $800,000.
The project entry also names Whitestone JES LLC as the owner, Dwayne Kostiha as the tenant and Hoover & Associates as the design firm. The work is noted as being privately funded by the tenant, rather than through public dollars.
What this means locally
The corner has sat quiet since the Jack in the Box closed in June 2025, a closure Community Impact reported last year. A Taco Bell opening would bring a fast food option back to that stretch of RM 620 and likely create a mix of short term construction work along with ongoing restaurant jobs, although the filing does not include any staffing plans or a specific grand opening date.
Hoodline will keep an eye on permit activity and local planning records for updates. We will share new information if officials, the tenant or Taco Bell release statements or if the project schedule changes.
