A Thursday afternoon crash on Frederick Road in Catonsville turned deadly when a single vehicle went off course, killing one person and seriously injuring two others, according to police.
Officers were called to the 600 block of Frederick Road, where they found the wrecked vehicle and three occupants. One person was pronounced dead at the scene. Two others were rushed to nearby hospitals with serious injuries, authorities said.
Police provided basic details to the media but kept other information close, according to CBS Baltimore. As of Thursday, investigators had not released the names of those involved or additional circumstances surrounding the crash.
Local context and safety concerns
Frederick Road and neighboring Route 40 are high-traffic corridors that have already seen their share of serious crashes and pedestrian incidents this year, fueling long-running safety concerns among Catonsville residents.
Earlier this year, a pedestrian death in February on nearby Baltimore National Pike triggered a Crash Team investigation and amplified calls for safety upgrades. Local advocates and officials have repeatedly pushed for roadway engineering changes and stronger enforcement along these stretches.
As of Thursday evening, Baltimore County police had not released further details about the Frederick Road crash, CBS Baltimore reported. This story will be updated when authorities share more information.
