What started as a quiet Friday in a McDonough subdivision turned tense when two gunmen were caught on camera firing into a vehicle, sending neighbors on edge and Henry County detectives knocking on doors for leads.
Henry County investigation
Surveillance video from along Big Cotton Trail shows two men opening fire on a car, squeezing off three shots before sprinting through a nearby resident's backyard to get away. Minutes earlier, the same pair had been seen speaking with an unidentified person inside a black vehicle with dark-tinted windows. Investigators have classified the incident as aggravated assault under case number 2026-00058340.
Henry County authorities are asking anyone who recognizes the men or who has relevant photos or video to contact Detective E. Luciano at 770-288-8278, call Henry County's non-emergency dispatch line at 770-957-9121, or text tips, photos and video to 770-220-7009, according to FOX 5 Atlanta.
How neighbors can help
Detectives are urging residents to save any dash-cam or doorbell footage from the time of the shooting and to resist the urge to post potential suspect images on social media, so that evidence can go straight to investigators instead of circulating online. Henry County police have leaned on the same text and phone tip lines in past cases to gather images and video from the public, as seen in prior tip campaigns.
What officials say remains unclear
So far, police have not released the identities of the two men in the video and have not confirmed whether anyone was injured or what the motive may have been. Detectives say the investigation is ongoing as officers continue canvassing the neighborhood and reviewing footage in an effort to put names to the faces seen in the surveillance clip.
