
A 63-year-old driver was killed Wednesday morning after their sedan crossed into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a dump truck on the 400 block of 23rd Avenue in Seattle’s Central District, police said. The crash happened shortly after 9 a.m., and officers found the sedan driver unresponsive. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the Seattle Police Department, detectives with the Traffic Collision Investigation Squad responded and initially determined the sedan had moved into the southbound lane before striking a southbound dump truck. The incident was logged under case number 2026-165300. Police said the 25-year-old dump truck driver stayed at the scene, cooperated with investigators and showed no signs of impairment during an evaluation. The investigation remains active as detectives review physical evidence and witness statements.
