A Madisonville man identified by police as Cameron Phelps is accused of assaulting his mother, forcing her to withdraw cash, and taking her vehicle before crashing it while fleeing officers on Cincinnati's east side. The collision at Victory Parkway and Reading Road briefly tangled traffic and left the other driver shaken but uninjured, authorities said.
According to police, the ordeal started Sunday when Phelps allegedly compelled his mother to take money out of an ATM and then drove off in her car. Officers tried to stop the vehicle the following day, but Phelps reportedly sped away. Investigators say he later collided with another vehicle at Victory and Reading. No one in the other car was hurt. Phelps was taken to a hospital for treatment, then booked into custody, and now faces charges including aggravated robbery, felonious assault, kidnapping, and failure to comply, as reported by WKRC Local 12.
Madisonville and the crash site
