A 26-year-old motorcyclist from Clarksville, identified as Tag Williams, died after losing control of his bike on State Route 350 on Wednesday afternoon. Investigators say the motorcycle ran off the road in a curve, hit a guy wire and a roadside sign, and threw Williams from the bike. He was flown by medical helicopter to Miami Valley Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
What troopers say
According to WKRC Local 12, the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s preliminary report says Williams was traveling west on SR 350 at about 3 p.m. when he failed to stay on the roadway in a curve. Troopers say the motorcycle struck a guy wire and a sign, sending Williams off the bike. Emergency crews called in a medical helicopter that flew him to Miami Valley Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Safety context and rider training
Crashes involving motorcycles typically climb as the weather warms up, and state officials regularly point to rider training as one of the best ways to reduce those numbers. As noted by Motorcycle Ohio, more than 11,000 students went through its courses last year, and the program highlights that many fatal crashes involve riders without formal training. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety reports that helmets cut the risk of death by roughly 37 to 42 percent, a reminder of how quickly roadside obstacles can turn a routine curve into a deadly scene.
Investigation and local pattern
Troopers from the Wilmington Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol are still investigating the crash and have not released many additional details. As WKRC Local 12 reports, investigators are looking at speed, road conditions, and other potential contributing factors. The wreck follows other deadly motorcycle crashes in Clinton County earlier this spring, a pattern local outlets and safety officials say mirrors broader statewide concerns about rider risk.
