After nearly two years of repairs and renovations, the Clearwater Beach Library and Recreation Center at 69 Bay Esplanade has reopened, returning a waterfront pool, gym and event room to the island. The updated complex is once again hosting fitness classes and community programs and is available for private rentals, from local couples booking weddings to groups planning laid-back picnics.
Speaking with Spectrum Bay News 9, Recreation Supervisor Dan Crider called the reopening meaningful for the neighborhood, saying, "To be back where we're at now is special." Local event planner Angellina Lucciola told the same outlet the revamped venue is "a beautiful and versatile space" and said she is organizing a wedding expo and open house to reintroduce the site to brides, grooms and vendors.
Local coverage notes that the rec complex now features multipurpose rooms, a fitness area and a swimming pool, and that the Clearwater Pop-Up Beach Library has been moved inside the building.
