What started as a pair of arguments inside a Clermont home ended with a 41-year-old man in the Hall County jail and a family-violence case now on prosecutors’ radar, authorities say.

Hall County deputies report that after a dispute with a woman at the home, the man allegedly pulled out a shotgun, pointed it at her head and threatened to shoot her "between the eyes." In a separate earlier run-in at the same home, investigators say he hurled an unloaded handgun that hit her thigh hard enough to leave a bruise. The suspect was arrested at the scene and is being held at the Hall County Jail without bond while the case moves forward as a family-violence matter.

Allegations At Clermont Home

According to WSB-TV, deputies were dispatched Saturday night after a woman called 911 and said her daughter might have been assaulted. Responding officers identified the suspect as 41-year-old Daniel Cody Ravan, the station reports.

Deputies say Ravan drew a shotgun, pointed it at the woman’s head and threatened to shoot her "between the eyes," according to WSB-TV. Officers took him into custody at the home, and he was later booked into the Hall County Jail.

What Family-Violence Charges Mean In Georgia

Prosecutors have tagged the case under Georgia’s Family Violence Act, which applies when alleged crimes occur between people in the same household or who share a family relationship. As outlined by FindLaw, that label can influence how judges handle bail, open the door to civil protective orders, and, if there is a conviction, may lead to a requirement that the defendant complete a court-ordered Family Violence Intervention Program.

Earlier Incident And Booking

Investigators say the weekend confrontation did not come out of nowhere. The incident followed a clash last Thursday in which Ravan allegedly threw an unloaded handgun that struck the victim’s thigh and caused a bruise, WSB-TV reports.

The station notes that Ravan faces aggravated assault and battery charges under the Family Violence Act and is being held without bond at the Hall County Jail.
