A 17-year-old is behind bars after police say a shooting inside a Concord home on Bedlington Drive NW left a 47-year-old man dead and a 16-year-old girl seriously wounded on Monday. Officers with the Concord Police Department responded to the residence and, after a brief foot pursuit, took a suspect into custody near the scene.
According to WCNC, police identified the suspect as 17-year-old Keshaun DeGraffenreid. Prosecutors have charged DeGraffenreid with first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, a misdemeanor domestic-violence count, resisting officers and possession offenses. He is being held without bond at the Cabarrus County Detention Center and is scheduled to appear in court on June 3.
"He was arrested after a brief foot chase near the scene," Concord police said, according to WCNC. Investigators say multiple shots were fired inside the home, striking both victims. The 47-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.
