A routine shift at a Queen Creek Walmart turned disturbing when a worker reported that a 61-year-old customer followed her through the store and into a restroom, where he allegedly lowered his shorts and exposed himself, according to newly filed court records.
The incident happened at the Walmart near Ellsworth and Ocotillo roads. The employee told investigators the man had already drawn attention on the sales floor before he tracked her into the bathroom. Surveillance footage cited in the records reportedly backed up key parts of her account and helped police track down a suspect.
What the records say
Documents reviewed by 12News identify the suspect as 61-year-old Brent Lebran and outline several alleged encounters inside the store.
According to those filings, Lebran first lifted his shirt on the sales floor and asked the employee if she wanted to touch his genitals. The worker said he then followed her around the store and ultimately into the restroom, where he allegedly lowered his shorts in front of her. Police later arrested Lebran after speaking with the employee, the records state.
Charges and Arizona law
Court documents show Lebran faces multiple counts, including indecent exposure, public sexual indecent contact, sexual abuse and assault.
Under Arizona law, exposing genitals in view of another person can be prosecuted under Arizona Revised Statutes §13-1402 and related provisions. Penalties can range from misdemeanors to felonies, depending on factors such as the age of the victim and any prior convictions. §13-1403 further details related offenses and potential punishments.
Suspect denies the accusations
Lebran has denied the allegations in court filings, according to the 12News review. The records say store surveillance video showed him following the employee into the restroom and that investigators referenced that footage when they interviewed the worker.
For now, the case sits in the early stages. Prosecutors will decide whether to file formal charges and move the matter deeper into the county court system.
Local context
The arrest lands in the middle of a run of high-profile public-indecency cases in the East Valley. In 2024, authorities arrested a man accused of masturbating during a movie at a Queen Creek Harkins Theatre, a case that Fox 10 Phoenix reported had residents once again talking about safety in busy retail and entertainment spots.
In this latest Walmart case, court records provide the backbone of what is publicly known so far. More details are expected to emerge if prosecutors move ahead with charges or hearings are placed on the calendar.
