Cops Collar Trenton Man In Alleged Pennington Avenue Fire Attack

A 37-year-old Trenton man is in custody after authorities say he broke into a Pennington Avenue home, assaulted someone inside, and set the residence on fire. He was arrested Wednesday in Morrisville Borough, Pennsylvania, and is facing attempted murder, aggravated arson and a long list of other felony charges, according to police. Fire crews evacuated the building on May 16, and no injuries were reported.

According to Daily Voice, Trenton police and firefighters responded to 756 Pennington Ave. around 7:33 a.m. on May 16 for a reported house fire and were directed to an assault victim inside. Investigators say the occupant had been attacked and that responding fire personnel evacuated all residents. No one was hurt. The report identifies the suspect as Karon Oliver and lists charges that include attempted murder, home-invasion burglary, aggravated assault, aggravated arson, terroristic threats and multiple weapons offenses.

How police say it unfolded

Police say Oliver forced his way into the residence while armed with a weapon, attacked the occupant and then took off. "He threatened to burn the house down while fleeing," police said, according to Daily Voice. Officers later located and arrested Oliver on Wednesday in Morrisville Borough, and police say he was in possession of PCP at the time he was detained.

Arrest and custody

Oliver is being held at the Bucks County Correctional Facility in Doylestown while he awaits further court proceedings and possible extradition. Bucks County's corrections page lists the Main Correctional Facility at 1730 S Easton Road in Doylestown. Trenton police told reporters that the investigation remains active and that the charges will be handled through the courts.
