Zuccaly, billed as Coral Gables' first dedicated Italian food hall, is slated to open at the Plaza Coral Gables this summer. The indoor-outdoor spot is planned at roughly 8,000 square feet and is expected to seat around 200 guests, with open culinary stations wrapped around a central bar.

Six stations, from Roman pizza to gelato

Once the doors open, diners will find six distinct counters under one roof. LaBiga will focus on Roman-style pizza al taglio, there will be a pasta and risotto station, a live-wood grill handling steaks and fish, Il Giardino for salads, PortaVia gastro market for prepared foods, and Dolci for house-made gelato and pastries.

The LaBiga counter is set to use a traditional "biga" pre-fermentation that aims for a lighter, airier crust, while PortaVia's shelves are expected to be stocked with items such as wagyu carpaccio and fresh burrata, according to Time Out.

Who's building it and who's cooking

The project comes from Da Silva Hospitality, the family-run group that also operates Coral Gables mainstay Zucca, per Da Silva Hospitality. Corporate chef Manuel Garcia, who oversees Zucca's kitchen and has experience working in Michelin-starred restaurants in France, is leading Zuccaly's culinary program, as reported by Miami New Times.

Design, drinks and weekday deals

Designers Lorena Manrique and Hapstack Demetriou have leaned into a Tuscan-inspired palette for the dining hall, with yellows, earthy oranges and deep greens, and have placed open ovens and counters at the center of the room, according to Time Out.

The bar program is slated to highlight Italian aperitivo staples such as Negronis, Americanos and Spritzes, and plans call for a Monday through Friday two-for-one happy hour.

How it fits into Miami's food scene

Zuccaly joins a growing lineup of curated food halls that have been reshaping dining across South Florida, adding an Italian-focused marketplace to a landscape that now stretches from Delray Beach to Miami proper. The rise of the multi-operator format, mapped across the region by Eater Miami, has turned developments like the Plaza into attractive homes for concepts like this.

There is still no firm opening date. The Plaza's tenant roster lists Zuccaly as "coming soon," per The Plaza Coral Gables, and Florida corporate filings list Zuccaly LLC's principal address as 111 Palermo Ave in Coral Gables, according to Florida Sunbiz records. For now, signs point to a summer opening window, with more details on menus and the exact date expected to come from Zuccaly's official channels.
