Two boys in their early teens, reportedly doubling up on a single e‑bike, are suspected of firing BB or airsoft guns at people across Davis this week, according to police. Four incidents were reported in South Davis and the downtown area, and authorities say no one was seriously injured.
What police say
Lt. John Evans confirmed the investigation in a statement to CBS Sacramento, which reported that officers received multiple calls over the week about the teen pair. According to the outlet, the reported incidents were clustered near Cowell Boulevard and El Cemonte Avenue, El Pescador Court, Olive Drive and Third and D streets.
Victim descriptions and timeline
Police logs reviewed by KCRA show one reported incident on Monday and three on Tuesday. Victims described two boys in dark clothing and Croc‑style shoes firing what appeared to be BB or pellet rounds. Witnesses told officers the pair were riding together on a single bicycle or e‑bike while shooting at passersby.
E‑bikes and local context
E‑bikes have become increasingly common in Davis, and the City of Davis bicycle action plan notes that electric bicycles can travel faster than conventional bikes and that regulations around their use are sometimes ambiguous. The city plan lays out safety and enforcement steps officials are considering as e‑bike adoption grows around town, with an emphasis on education, helmet use and restrictions on certain bike paths.
Investigation ongoing
Police told CBS Sacramento they had not received further reports as of Thursday and that the investigation remains active. Anyone with information or video related to the incidents is urged to contact the Davis Police Department as officers work to identify the suspects.
