A late-morning shooting on Wednesday shook a stretch of west Las Vegas, leaving one person in the hospital and another detained by police after gunfire broke out on the 4100 block of Sirius Avenue near Valley View Boulevard and Desert Inn Road.
The shooting was reported just after 10 a.m. One person was taken to a hospital with gunshot wounds that police described as non-life-threatening, while another individual was detained at the scene as officers moved in and locked down the area. Investigators released few details on what led up to the incident as they worked the scene and spoke with witnesses.
According to FOX5, Metro confirmed the timing of the call at just after 10 a.m., the non-life-threatening nature of the victim’s injuries, and that a second person was detained. By midday, authorities had not released the names of those involved or any information about possible charges.
Police response and investigation
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said detectives were on scene gathering evidence and interviewing potential witnesses as part of an active investigation. The department has already been dealing with several high-profile shootings in the valley this month, including an officer-involved shooting on June 3, according to a department press release.
