A 66-year-old Nashville man was killed Thursday in a single-vehicle crash on a rural stretch of Beaverdam Road near Enfield, according to state troopers. The driver, identified as Parker McKinley, died at the scene after his vehicle ran off the right side of the road, hit a ditch and overturned, authorities said.
What troopers say happened
According to RRSpin, Sergeant J.M. Doston of the North Carolina State Highway Patrol said McKinley was headed south on Beaverdam Road when his vehicle left the roadway and rolled.
The outlet reports that a preliminary account from Trooper J.J. Lynch indicates that "neither speed nor alcohol contributed to the crash." No additional contributing factors were cited in that initial summary.
A dangerous stretch of country road
Beaverdam Road cuts through a largely rural part of Halifax County, tying together small communities and farmland outside Enfield, according to U.S. Geological Survey maps for the Enfield quadrangle. Regional topo maps and county road data show a winding country alignment with limited shoulders and few nearby services along certain stretches.
What is known and what comes next
As of publication, the RRSpin report appears to be the only public account of the wreck, and no separate notice is posted on the N.C. Department of Public Safety news page.
Officials are expected to file a formal crash report with the state’s crash-reporting system, which could add detail once the process is complete, in line with N.C. Department of Transportation crash-reporting guidance.
This story will be updated if the Highway Patrol issues an official release or if additional information is made public by local authorities.
