
A late-night argument at a home on Emily Lane near Oxford erupted into gunfire Monday, leaving one person dead and three others with minor injuries, according to authorities. Granville County deputies responded quickly, provided aid at the scene and secured the area as the investigation stretched into the early morning hours. The three people who were hurt did not require hospital treatment, based on the sheriff’s initial statement. Multiple individuals were detained while investigators began collecting evidence and conducting interviews.
According to the Charlotte Observer, citing a June 23 news release from the Granville County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to 4112 Emily Lane. The preliminary statement said that around 10:17 p.m., several people who had been involved in a verbal argument opened fire on one another. One person was fatally shot, and three others sustained what deputies described as minor injuries. Detectives later secured search warrants for two additional homes on Emily Lane, and multiple people were detained as questioning continued.
