
Early Sunday in Northridge, a 28-year-old man was gunned down in the alley behind his apartment building, turning a gated residential block into a crime scene. Police later identified the victim as Pedro Devora. Officers found him wounded in the 19100 block of Bryant Street, about a block south of Parthenia Street, and paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.
According to Los Angeles Daily News, officers were dispatched at about 4:30 a.m. Sunday, and discovered Devora suffering from gunshot wounds. The outlet reported that a fight broke out before the shooting. The Daily News said paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene and noted that investigators were still searching for a suspect as of Monday.
Police Say Fight Came Before Gunfire
Officer Norma Eisenman of the Los Angeles Police Department's Media Relations Division told MyNewsLA that investigators believe the killing may be gang-related and that officers responded to the area of Bryant Street and Vanalden Avenue after the call came in. MyNewsLA reported that no suspect description was immediately available.
Gated Complex Becomes Crime Scene
The complex where the killing occurred is a gated apartment community on the 19100 block of Bryant Street, about a block south of Parthenia Street, according to the Los Angeles Daily News. Detectives were canvassing the area for witnesses and evidence as the investigation continued. No arrests had been announced.
The Los Angeles Police Department is investigating and asked anyone with information to contact authorities, according to MyNewsLA. Investigators have not released a suspect description or motive beyond the earlier reported fight.
