Two men were found shot to death in Detroit early yesterday in separate incidents that unfolded within minutes of each other, leaving residents on both sides of the city waking up to crime tape and unanswered questions. Police say details are still thin as detectives work through the early stages of both investigations.
Two Separate Crime Scenes In The Same Early-Morning Window
One shooting took place in the 19000 block of Kelly Road on Detroit's east side, the other in the 8700 block of Quincy Street on the west side, both happening in roughly the same half-hour between about 3 a.m. and 3:30 a.m., according to WXYZ. Investigators told the station the circumstances behind each shooting are not yet known, and no arrests had been made as of Sunday.
Recent Gun Violence Has Neighborhoods On Edge
The overnight killings come on the heels of other deadly incidents in the city in recent weeks, including a May 20 double-fatal shooting that left neighbors rattled, as reported by FOX 2 Detroit. Earlier this spring, prosecutors filed charges in connection with a separate Kelly Road-area shooting that involved the killing of a trial witness, highlighting the persistent gun violence problem police are battling, according to ClickOnDetroit.
Detectives Tight-Lipped As Investigations Unfold
Detroit police are still processing both scenes and have not released the victims' names or any possible motives. Officials told WXYZ that the cases remain active and that more information will be shared as it becomes available.
Anyone with information about either shooting is urged to contact Detroit police. The cases remain under investigation, and additional details may surface in the coming days.
